Paper Kite Butterfly
Paper Kite Butterfly
Thin elegant wings like rice paper give the Paper Kite its namesake. The friendly cousin of the Monarch, this graphic butterfly has wings with striking inky dots and swooping black lines. But its wing patterns are a warning to others: I'm poisonous. So the Paper Kite floats nonchalantly, up in the sky or close to the ground, or wherever the wind may take it.
The Flipbook Machine brings images to life through paper and mechanics. Flipping pages make these handmade sculptures live in real sound and space. Creatures flit and flicker by to awaken the poetry of movement and inspire through nature and invention.
